Why it exists
Getting the good part out of a long chat is tedious.
You scroll up for ages so older messages load, drag-select across code blocks, and paste text that has lost its formatting. Most exporters just dump the entire conversation into one file. AI Chat Exporter lets you choose.
Pick, don't dump
Select everything, only your prompts, only the AI replies, or hand-picked messages. Click a row to jump to that message in the chat.

On Grok on X and Google Search AI Mode, click the AI Chat Exporter toolbar button first. On grok.com, the first toolbar click asks for optional site access.
Privacy
Your conversations never leave your browser.
- No server, account, analytics, or ads. Messages are read and exported on your device.
- Nothing is saved unless you ask. The archive is filled only when you press Save to archive.
- Only the supported chat sites. Grok on X and Google AI Mode use temporary access after your toolbar click; grok.com asks for optional access when you first use it.
Honest limits
It exports conversations, not your whole account.
- Current and saved chats only. It doesn't pull your account's full conversation history.
- Text, not attachments. Images, uploaded files, PDF, Word, and Notion export aren't included.
- AI sites change their pages. When one does, reading can break until AI Chat Exporter is updated.
How do I export a ChatGPT conversation?
Open the chat, click Export beside it, tick the messages you want, then choose Copy or Download (Markdown, text, or JSON).
Can I save only part of a Claude chat?
Yes. That's the main point: pick individual messages, only your prompts, or only Claude's replies.
Can I export Gemini conversations?
Yes. Open the conversation on gemini.google.com and use the panel the same way. On Google Search AI Mode, click the AI Chat Exporter toolbar button first.
How do I download a Grok chat?
Open the chat on grok.com or on X, then click the AI Chat Exporter toolbar button. On grok.com it asks for site access the first time. Tick the messages you want and choose Download.
Which formats are supported?
Markdown, plain text, and JSON, copied to your clipboard or downloaded as a file. PDF, Word, images, and attachments aren't included.
Does it upload my conversations?
No. Messages are read and exported in your browser and are never sent to Desk Anvil or any other server. Saved chats stay in your browser's extension storage.
Does it work on very long chats?
Yes. Load more is the fast pass: it brings in older messages quickly, and a very long chat may need a few clicks. Load entire chat collects the whole conversation for you in one go instead of making you scroll to the top. It is slower and can take a few minutes on a very long chat, and you can stop it any time.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, trial, or premium lock. There's an optional Ko-fi link if you'd like to support it.
