Free one-click Chrome extension
Sleep, reload, or open this window's tabs.
One toolbar popup manages the current window: release background-tab memory, normally reload every tab, or open a prepared list of links. Your other Chrome windows stay untouched by default.
- Focused tab controls — no automation
- This window — the safe default
- No page access — no browsing data
This window
Every Chrome window · separate action
The popup, badge, and notification report confirmed sleeps or accepted reload requests.
One tab-working-set menu
Release it, refresh it, or open a prepared list.
Inactive tabs unload
The tabs remain in the tab strip while their page memory is released. Activate one later and Chrome reloads it.
Every tab refreshes
Reload sends a normal reload request across the current window. Cache and browser data stay intact.
Prepared lists open together
Paste up to 50 links or domains and open the valid unique destinations in the background. Unsafe schemes and duplicates are ignored.
Why one popup
Opposite actions, unmistakable buttons.
Sleep releases a working set for later. Reload refreshes it now. Those two large actions remain primary, while Open links gets its own quieter mode in the same popup.
This tool has no automatic timer or rules engine. Use Alt+Shift+S for current-window sleep or Alt+Shift+R for current-window reload.
Privacy
No existing tab URLs, titles, or pages are inspected.
- Only two narrow permissions. The toolbar menu exposes the all-windows action, and notifications report the result.
- No page inspection. Content, forms, cookies, history, existing tab URLs, and titles are not read. Pasted destinations are handled transiently to open them.
- No server, analytics, telemetry, or account. The action stays inside Chrome.
Honest limits
Sleeping a tab unloads its page.
- Audio can stop. Pinned and audible inactive tabs are part of the attempt.
- Unsaved in-page state can be lost. The page reloads when you activate the tab again.
- Chrome can refuse. Tabs Chrome considers nondiscardable are not counted as slept.
Does it close my tabs?
No. Sleeping tabs remain visible and reload when activated.
Does it affect every Chrome window?
Not by default. Both primary popup buttons affect only the current window. The separated Sleep background tabs everywhere action is the only global control.
Does reload clear my cache?
No. It sends a normal reload request and leaves cache, cookies, login, and other browser data intact.
Why does the active tab stay awake?
Chrome explicitly does not allow an active tab to be discarded.
Is it free?
Yes. No account, trial, or premium lock.
