AI Chat Exporter

Need help, found a bug, or have a feature request? Email deskanvil@gmail.com. Include the extension version (shown at the bottom right of the panel), which AI site you were on, and what you expected to happen. Do not send passwords or private chat content.

Quick fixes

  • The Export button is missing: reload the chat tab. After the extension updates or is reloaded, tabs that were already open need one refresh. You can also click the AI Chat Exporter button in Chrome’s toolbar. Chrome blocks extensions on internal pages such as chrome:// and on the Chrome Web Store itself.
  • The message list is empty or shorter than the chat: press the rescan button (circular arrow) in the panel header. Long chats only keep the messages near the screen, so use Load more or Load entire chat to bring older messages in.
  • Grok on grok.com: click the toolbar button on the Grok tab and allow site access. Chrome asks once, and it is optional for every other site. Grok on X and Google Search AI Mode: click the toolbar button on that tab each time; access is temporary and ends with the tab.
  • Copy says the clipboard was blocked: use Download instead. Chrome can refuse clipboard access when the tab is not in focus.
  • The panel keeps tucking away: it slides to the edge after a few seconds of inactivity. Hover the edge to reopen it, or use the pin button to keep it open. The minimize button tucks it away on demand, and close (X) brings the Export button back.
  • The Export button is in the way: drag it anywhere on the page. Hold it still for a moment, or right-click it, to put it back in its default spot.
  • The archive is empty: saved chats live only in Chrome’s storage on this device. Clearing browser data or removing the extension deletes them, so download an export first if you want a backup.
  • It stopped finding messages after a site update: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok change their pages from time to time. Email the site, the page type and the version, and I’ll fix it.

Before reporting a problem

Confirm that Chrome and the extension are up to date, then try the same action in a short new chat. A screenshot is useful, but please remove personal or confidential information first. The Feedback & ideas card on the archive page opens a pre-filled email that already includes the version.

Privacy

The extension has no Desk Anvil account, analytics, or processing server. Conversations are read and processed on your device and are never sent to Desk Anvil. Read the complete privacy policy for details.
